Since the 1980s, I have been involved in various DIY communities and initiatives. Outside WdKA, I am an associate of the Hong Kong-based collective 展銷場 Display Distribute, operating the Rotterdam Relay Center of its volunteer-run courier service 後勤慢遞 LIGHT LOGISTICS. On Radio WORM, I broadcast the weekly radio program “Mixed Business”, and I am an occasional host at, and part of the larger volunteer community of, De Aanschouw, the Netherland’s smallest art space that runs as a parasite of pubs. I am currently a board member of the artist-run non-profit Lezeren that offers free Dutch language and literacy courses.

M.A. in Comparative Literature, Art History and Modern German Philology (1998, FU Berlin), Dr. phil. in Comparative Literature (2006, FU Berlin); Cultural Studies diploma from (the self-organized) Wissenschaftsakademie Berlin 2003; Dutch hospitality industry/waiter diploma Sociale Hygiëne Verklaring 2010; working on my BKE assessor certificate for Dutch Applied Science University education and my Dutch inburgeringsexamen in 2024.
